3 Ways To Find A Good Day Care Provider

Are you currently in need of a good day care provider? If so, then here are a few tips that you may want to consider.

1.  Ask Friends And Family For Recommendations

When looking for a daycare provider to watch your child, you can of course search for different providers online. However, it may be in your best interest to ask family and friends for recommendations instead. That way you know that the feedback you’re getting about various daycare providers is coming from people whose opinions you trust and value. This will help ensure that the provider that you’re leaving your child with is someone that’s reliable and trustworthy.

On the other hand, it’s not a bad idea to check out online reviews to see what other people that you don’t personally know have to say about the various day care providers in your area. The reason for this is that the more feedback that you’re able to get about a particular day care program, the better.

2. Ask About Their Policies

Once you have narrowed down your search to 3 or 4 day care providers that seem the most promising, it’s time to give them a call. Have a list of questions prepared ahead of time so that you can find out where they stand as far as their different policies go. It’s very important to see what their stance is on issues such as discipline, snack and meal times, and nap times. For example, if you feel that spanking is wrong then obviously you’ll want to avoid day cares that believe spanking is okay.

3. Drop By For A Visit

Once you have found a few day care providers that you feel might be a good fit for you and your child, you should drop by for a visit. It’s best to just show up at the day care facility rather than announcing your visit ahead of time. That way you will be able to see firsthand what type of condition the day care facility is typically in as far as whether it’s clean or dirty. You can also observe how the daycare provider tends to interact with all of the children there.

If you show up unannounced it will give you a better picture of what things at the daycare are really like since they won’t have time to clean up before you arrive. Try to observe how the day care provider interacts with the children from a bit of a distance when you first arrive. This is very important because if the provider sees you as soon as you arrive then they are more likely to be on their very best behavior.

There’s no doubt that trying to find a good day care provider can sometimes be difficult and stressful. Luckily though, trying even just one or two of these tips should help make things much easier for you.
